While on the stand, Johnny Depp told the courtroom that Amber Heard allegedly ‘faked’ an injury to her nose using nail polish to simulate blood.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor launched a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post.

Depp took to the stand to attempt to clear his name against Heard’s accusations that he was a domestic abuser.

After describing a “staircase incident” where he claimed Heard “roundhouse” punched him in the cheek, a recording was played of the couple arguing in which Heard admits to starting “a physical fight” with him.

Depp continues, mentioning another fight supposedly prompted by Heard, when she apparently started “scratching” the actor in December 2015. He confessed he tried to “restrain” her which led to “accidental contact, but not a headbutt” as Heard originally claimed.

Depp testified:

“There was some kind of contact with our heads, with our foreheads, as would happen when you’re trying to calm someone like that,”

“That’s when she accused me of head butting her and breaking her nose. There was no blood. I didn’t hit her nose.”

The 58-year-old said he left the heated situation and Heard came into the room a few minutes later. Depp stated that he went into “placation mode” in an attempt to reconcile and asked to see her injury, but Heard refused to show him.

Heard then threw away the Kleenex she had been holding to her nose. Depp said he collected it “out of the trash bin” and noticed “it was nail polish” and not blood.
