Amber Heard has taken the stand for the first time today and has testified that the first time Johnny Depp slapped her, it ‘broke [her] heart’.
Depp launched a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post. Heard never mentioned Depp by name but the actor argued that the article she wrote tarnished his reputation and ultimately his acting career.
The actress choked back tears today (4 May) as she described the first time Depp allegedly slapped her.
She claimed the 58-year-old slapped her across the face for laughing at one of his tattoos as she thought he was making a joke.

She testified:
“He said, ‘you think it’s so funny b****? You think you are a funny b****?’ and he slapped me again.
“It was clear it wasn’t a joke.”
She continued, saying she had “never been hit like that” before and “I knew you don’t come back from that, and it broke my heart”.
