Amber Heard Testifies She and Depp Used a Safe Word in Arguments

Amber Heard has testified in court that she and Johnny Depp used a ‘safe word’ in arguments.

In an audio clip played to the court, Heard said the word “couch” repeatedly. While on the stand on Monday.

Her lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, asked Heard if she could explain why she said this. The 36-year-old said:

“‘Couch’ was a word that we had been given, that we decided upon…it was a safe word…like truce, where you put down the proverbial guns and you say truce, we’re not fighting anymore”

Depp is suing Heard for $50 million over an op-ed she wrote in 2018 in The Washington Post about being abused. The actor was not named, however, he claims that these allegations have negatively impacted his reputation and his career.

The actress then countersued Depp for $100 million, accusing the 58-year-old of creating a “smear campaign” against her.
