Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has recently been the subject of ridicule on the popular animated comedy series South Park.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s show, known for its biting satire and cultural commentary, targeted Tate, a self-proclaimed “toxic masculinity coach,” in their latest episode.
After spending several months behind bars in Romania on suspicion of organized crime and human trafficking, Tate was released from prison on 31 March.
He has since responded to the South Park mockery, tweeting to his 5.6 million followers, “When I will be proven innocent. I look forward to help create the greatest South Park episode of all time.” He also tweeted, “I met one of my lifelong heroes, Randy Marsh.”
Following his release, Tate spoke to the media, expressing his desire for the truth to come to light. “I have no resentment in my heart for the country of Romania, or for anybody else. I just believe in the truth,” he said. “I think that the fire of truth will eventually destroy all lies and anybody who lies in a long enough timeframe will feel the sting of regret.” Tate maintained his innocence, saying, “There is 0 percent chance of me being found guilty of something I have not done. I maintain my absolute innocent innocence.”
Tate and his brother, Tristan, were detained in late December, along with two Romanian women, Georgiana Naghel and Luana Radu.
Tate won an appeal to replace his detention with house arrest, which will last until 29 April. No formal charges have been made against anyone involved in the case. The Bucharest Court of Appeal ruled in favour of Tate’s appeal, which challenged a judge’s decision last week to extend his arrest for a fourth time.
Tate, a professional kickboxer who has resided in Romania since 2017, has been banned from various social media platforms in the past for expressing misogynistic views and hate speech.
He has claimed that the Romanian prosecutors have no evidence against him and that their case is a “political” conspiracy to silence him. His team has previously argued that there was no need to keep him in custody in the current circumstances.
A spokesperson for the Tate brothers told MailOnline, “The court has decided to extend the Tate brothers’ preventative arrest. We have been rendered speechless by the news.” The spokesperson added, “The interaction with the judge was extremely dynamic and the brothers were offered for the first time the opportunity to present all legal guarantees that they are not a flight risk. They are the first ones who want light to be shed on this case. The substantial material damages they have suffered are nothing compared to the moral ones. Their image has been irreparably harmed and it will take years to rebuild the reputation, trust and connection with the general public.”
The South Park episode was not the first time Tate has been the subject of public ridicule or backlash. His controversial views and actions have garnered criticism and condemnation from many. However, Tate remains steadfast in his belief in his own innocence and in the ultimate triumph of the truth.
