During Wednesday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “The Howard Stern Show,” Andy Cohen revealed some surprising news, stating, “I am in love with John Mayer. We are in love with each other.”

Cohen, 55, and Mayer, 45, have been close friends for a long time. Mayer even serenaded Cohen on his 50th birthday, spoke at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in February 2022, and attended the baby shower for Cohen’s son.

Howard Stern, 69, pointed out that Mayer was frequently mentioned in Cohen’s new book, “The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up,” and highlighted their shared experiences, including camping trips. Stern then asked Cohen to confirm that their relationship had never been sexual.

Cohen replied, “Yes, I do. I swear,” solemnly swearing on the lives of his children, Ben, 4, and Lucy, 1. This question about their relationship has been a topic of speculation among fans, with rumors circulating about a potential romantic involvement between the two.

After Mayer’s birthday performance for Cohen, the host of “Watch What Happens Live” felt the need to clarify their relationship status, although he understood why fans might think otherwise.

“We have a very sweet friendship, and we are together all the time. I think that I was not surprised because we also have a great love for each other. So, it just seems like the obvious assumption,” Cohen explained in an interview with CNN in 2018.

In December 2022, Cohen elaborated on their friendship during an episode of iHeart’s podcast “Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi.”

“John Mayer is someone who is very in touch with his emotions,” Cohen shared with Bruce Bozzi. “He very quickly in our friendship started saying, ‘You know what, I gotta tell you something — I love you.'”

Cohen continued, highlighting Mayer’s willingness to express his emotions and affection in a way that may go against societal expectations for straight men.

“He is someone to say, ‘I love you and I cherish you and I cherish our friendship’ — just this stuff that straight guys aren’t necessarily supposed to say,” Cohen added.
