The author of an essay entitled How To Murder Your Husband has been accused of murdering her husband.
Nancy Crampton-Brophy, the self-published romance writer who published the aforementioned piece, was arrested on suspicion of shooting dead her husband Daniel Brophy. The couple had been married 27 years.
The chef was found in the kitchen at the Oregon Culinary Institute in Portland on 2 June 2018, with a gunshot wound to his back and another to the chest.
The case has mostly been delayed going to trial due to Covid-19, but finally began on Monday 4 April and is expected to last up to seven weeks.
This particular case has gained popularity due to the content in Crampton-Brophy’s writing. In her self-published essay, she writes:
“As a romantic suspense writer, I spend a lot of time thinking about murder and, consequently, about police procedure.”
“After all, if the murder is supposed to set me free, I certainly don’t want to spend any time in jail. And let me say clearly for the record, I don’t like jumpsuits and orange isn’t my colour.”
