Bill Gates has given away $6 billion this week in an attempt to get off the list of the world’s richest people.
The 66-year-old recently made a promise to give away ‘virtually all’ of his wealth in the future.
As I look to the future, I plan to give virtually all of my wealth to the foundation. I will move down and eventually off of the list of the world’s richest people.

This month alone, Gates has pledged $20 billion to The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
He seems to be following through on his promise with filings from the Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC) which shows the billionaire donated close to $5.2 billion worth of stock to his charity foundation.
The filings also show Gates gave away $995 million worth of shares to the foundation from a Deere & Co.
Bloomberg reported that Gates is now worth $112 billion, behind Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bernard Arnault and India’s Gautam Adani.
The Microsoft founder told Forbes in an interview he plans to follow the ‘give while you live’ way of living.
“I’ll get myself out of the highly visible part of the list with just say two more gifts of this magnitude. I would get myself off the top part of the list.
“Getting all the way off the list, that’s going to take me a while, but my direction of travel is clear.”
