Fans of Britney have been left shocked after discovering what her hit song “Toxic” is actually about…

Renowned for her chart-topping hits such as “Oops I Did It Again,” “Baby One More Time,” and “Boys,” the 41-year-old singer, Britney Spears, has left an indelible mark on the music industry.

Among her extensive discography, “Toxic” stands out as one of her most successful songs. Not only did it earn Spears her first and only Grammy Award, but it also holds the title of her most-streamed track, with over 900 million streams.

In fact, Spears herself expressed her fondness for the song during a Twitter Q&A, stating that it is her personal favorite among her repertoire.

Surprisingly, despite the song’s 20-year existence, fans have recently discovered the true inspiration behind the hit. “Toxic” was penned by Cathy Dennis, who happened to be dating veterinarian Noel Fitzpatrick, renowned for his TV show “Supervet,” during the early 2000s. Their relationship came to an end in 2003, coinciding with the release of the song.

Upon uncovering this information, fans went into a frenzy, taking to social media to share their astonishment. One fan remarked, “Just found out that ‘Toxic’ was written about C4 The Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick by Cathy Dennis. Mind blown. Also, great show, by the way.”

Another fan expressed, “I still can’t believe ‘Toxic’ is about Noel Fitzpatrick.” A social media user chimed in, saying, “Today’s fun fact: The song ‘Toxic’ by Britney Spears is about Noel Fitzpatrick, the Supervet.”

The revelation prompted various reactions from fans, with one exclaiming, “The fact that Britney’s song ‘Toxic’ was written about Noel Fitzpatrick, the Supervet, has blown my mind.” Another individual shared, “I saw a TikTok (of course) and OMG, my new favorite fact is that ‘Toxic’ by Britney Spears is actually about Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick.”

Noel Fitzpatrick himself addressed the topic during an interview on “This Morning.” Holly Willoughby, one of the show’s presenters, inquired whether he was aware of the lyrics, “I need a hit, baby, give me it. You’re dangerous, I’m loving it,” and jokingly asked if the song was indeed about him.

Fitzpatrick playfully responded, “You may have to ask Kylie Minogue whether ‘I Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ (also written by Dennis) is about me.”

Joining in on the playful banter, presenter Phillip Schofield remarked, “You clearly have an influence.”

The revelation regarding the inspiration behind “Toxic” has left fans amazed and has added an intriguing layer of depth to the beloved song, further cementing its status as a timeless hit in Britney Spears’ illustrious career.
