Charles Becomes King Following Queen’s Death

Charles has become King following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and has named Camilla as Queen Consort.

Her Majesty had been suffering with health and mobility issues recently and following medical professional advice, had pulled herself out of many of her royal duties in order to rest.

She was the head of state for over 70 years and the second-longest reigning monarch in world history.

The 96-year-old had been staying at her residence in Balmoral as she often did in the summer between July to early September.

In the past seven months, Buckingham Palace had announced on the day of event, if her Majesty would be attending or not depending on her health and how she was feeling that day.

During this time of ill-health, the Queen missed a number of event that she would traditionally have attended, such as the State Opening of Parliament, the Platinum Jubilee Concert and the commemorative Derby.

Her cause of death has not yet been announced. She passed surrounded by her family and loved ones.

RIP, your Majesty.
