Chris Rock had to ‘holds back tears’ after breaking his silence about being slapped on stage at the Oscars.
Everyone was eager to hear what the comedian had to say about the incident which has now been seen by millions and created thousands of headlines. The 57-year-old has been silent about his thoughts, until now.
He arrived on stage at The Wilbur Theatre in Boston and was met with a standing ovation which lasted four to five minutes, according to Deadline, which he reacted with:
“Let me be all misty and s***,”
The Daily Mail claimed the comedian started off his show ‘with tears in his eyes’, moved by everyone’s support.
Rock then continued:
“I don’t have a bunch of s*** to say about that, so if you came here for that.”
“I had written a whole show before this weekend.”
“I’m still processing what happened, so at some point I’ll talk about that s***. It’ll be serious. It’ll be funny.
“But right now I’m going to tell some jokes.”
Will Smith very publicly slapped Rock at the Academy Awards on Sunday evening, after the comedian compared Will’s Wife, Jada Pinkett Smith to G.I Jane, which was highly inappropriate and insensitive as Jada has been very open about her hair loss journey due to alopecia.
Rock’s Ego Death World Tour has seen a major spike in sales after the incident.
At least one good thing has come out of this, huh Chris?
