Los Angeles Police were prepared to arrest Will Smith after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, but Rock turned them away, according to the show’s producer, Will Packer.
Smith rushed on to the stage after the comedian made a comment about Jada Pinkett Smith during his speech and slapped Rock in the face. Pinkett Smith has recently been open about her struggle with alopecia, a hair loss condition
Chris Rock declined to file a police report, even although LA cops were prepared to arrest the actor for battery and told Rock:
‘we will go get him. we are prepared to get him right now. You can press charges. We can arrest him’

An insider told The New York Post:
‘No one ever asked Chris if Will should leave. They never consulted him. It was the Oscars producer Will Packer who made the final decision to let Will stay,’
