Actress Christina Applegate recently called out an internet troll who criticized her appearance at the Critics Choice Awards.
The 51-year-old star, who is known for her role in the Netflix series “Dead to Me,” shared a screenshot of a message she received from a hater who suggested that her appearance was a result of “bad” plastic surgery instead of her multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

Applegate revealed in August 2021 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system.
The disease can impact the flow of information from the brain to the body, but it manifests differently in different patients and is incurable.
The actress has been open about her experience with the disease in interviews leading up to the release of the third and final season of “Dead to Me,” which hit Netflix in November 2022.
In an interview with the New York Times, she explained that her condition may cause her to look different on the episodes.
“I put on 40 pounds; I can’t walk without a cane. I want people to know that I am very aware of all of that,” she said.

The Critics’ Choice Awards was the first awards show Applegate attended since her diagnosis.
She was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on “Dead to Me,” but the award ultimately went to Jean Smart for her role in “Hacks.”
