Amber Heard was accused of stealing lines from The Talented Mr Ripley for her court testimony against ex-husband Johnny Depp, but these claims have since been debunked.
Depp launched a defamation lawsuit against Heard in 2019 after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post. Heard never mentioned Depp by name but the actor argued that the article she wrote tarnished his reputation and ultimately his acting career.
Heard took the stand on Wednesday for the first time and Twitter users were quick to dissect her every word.
Here's proof that Amber Turd is acting on the witness stand! Remember the movie "The Talented Mr. Ripley?" Well yesterday Amber Heard got on the witness stand & repeated these lines word for fucking word!#JohnnyDeppIsInnocent#AmberHeardlsALiar#AmberHeardIsAnAbuser pic.twitter.com/pDQRBxKqVe

Many online noticed that during her opening address the actress appeared to steal lines from the film The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Johnny Depp hoax. You know for SURE somebody is putting together a supercut of all the lines and stories that Amber heard stole straight up from movies. Gone Girl, Notting Hill, Talented Mr. Ripley, etc. it’s so creepy and weird but the supercuts will be hilarious!

However, according to Snopes, this claim is false. It quickly went viral, even although the two quotes were simply shared side-by-side and it was lacking any evidence.
The most likely explanation is that the actress had some feelings that mirrored the film and this claim that she “stole the lines” was then largely exaggerated to create a false narrative.

Heard goes on to describe how in the beginning of their relationship, she felt they lived in a “bubble” together, as they had to keep their relationship out of the public eye due to Depp’s alleged fear of people blaming Heard for breaking up his marriage.
