An old video clip from 2015 resurfaced of Dakota Johnson supposedly showing concern over Johnny Depp’s injured finger at a press conference but the actress is confused by the internet’s reaction.
Johnson and Depp were at a press conference for Black Mass in 2015, which took place a few months after the actor’s injury occurred.
The video clip in question appears to show Johnson noticing his injury and asking him what happened.
Depp proceeds to make her laugh in response, so presumably makes a joke about the injury rather than telling the truth. As Depp turns around to face the audience once again, his hand appears to shake.
The actress looks visibly concerned for her friend. Depp seems to brush it off and continue with the press conference as normal.
However, in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actress revealed that she was baffled by the internet’s reaction to this clip. She said:
“I was like, ‘For the love of God, why? Why am I involved in this?’
“I don’t remember that at all, but please, take me out of this. Don’t let this go further.
“Can you imagine, oh, my God, if I was called to the witness stand? I can’t believe that people are watching [the trial] like it’s a show.
“It’s like it’s a courtroom drama and my heart breaks. It’s so, so, so crazy. Humans are so f***ing weird. The internet is a wild, wild place.”
Depp launched a defamation lawsuit against ex wife Amber Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post. The actor won the case and Heard has now been ordered by the court to pay more than $8.3 million in damages.
