Tragic news struck the Instagram community as popular daredevil Remi Lucidi, also known as Remi Enigma, lost his life in a devastating accident while attempting an adrenaline-inducing stunt on a skyscraper in Hong Kong.
The 30-year-old daredevil from France had amassed a substantial following on Instagram by sharing jaw-dropping videos and photos captured from dizzying heights. His content often featured him perched precariously on tall buildings and structures, either standing close to the edge or daringly dangling his legs over the massive drop below.
On July 17, Lucidi checked into a hostel in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Ten days later, on July 27, he made his way to the Tregunter Tower complex. According to investigators, he informed a security guard that he was there to visit a friend residing on the 40th floor. The guard reportedly attempted to verify his claim, but Lucidi swiftly escaped into an elevator before any further questioning.
Just a few days prior to the tragic incident, Lucidi had shared his final Instagram post, which captured the breathtaking view of Hong Kong’s towering buildings. The post was accompanied by a simple heartfelt message: “Hong Kong [love heart].”
Tragedy struck when a cleaner spotted Lucidi outside the window of the penthouse on the 68th floor around 7:30 pm local time on that fateful Thursday. He was alive and appeared to be knocking on the window, prompting the cleaner to notify the police immediately. Regrettably, before the authorities could arrive at the scene, Lucidi fell to his untimely death.
CCTV footage later revealed that Lucidi had arrived on the 49th floor before proceeding to ascend the building’s stairs. Investigators found an open hatch leading to the roof, raising suspicions that this was the route he had taken. However, when they reached the rooftop, Lucidi was nowhere to be found.
As of now, Hong Kong police have not yet released an official cause of death.
However, they did find Lucidi’s sports camera at the scene, which contained videos showcasing his daring escapades in extreme sports.
Gurjit Kaur, the owner of the hostel where Lucidi had been staying, spoke fondly of him, describing him as a friendly and humble individual. Kaur expressed deep sadness over the tragic turn of events, reflecting on the healthy, fit, and happy-faced young man she had known.
Lucidi’s fans and followers expressed their grief and condolences on his Instagram page, sharing heartfelt messages commemorating his adventurous spirit and the risks he took in pursuit of his passion. Many referred to him as an “adventurous man who pushed his life to the extreme” and a “fellow explorer” who will be sorely missed.
Throughout his daredevil explorations, Lucidi had shared captivating images from various buildings around the world, including destinations like Colombia, France, Dubai, Bulgaria, and Poland.
His adventurous spirit and passion for taking on thrilling challenges had endeared him to countless followers, making his untimely departure a devastating loss for the online community.
