The cause of death for Cody Longo, renowned for his portrayal of Nicholas Alamain on the television series ‘Days of Our Lives,’ has finally been unveiled.
Earlier reports indicated that the 34-year-old actor, also known as Cody Anthony, was discovered deceased in a residence in Austin, Texas, in February, as relayed by a family member who spoke to TMZ.
The concern initially arose from his wife, Stephanie Nicole Clark, who had been occupied at a local dance studio. Upon being unable to reach him, she promptly contacted the police to inquire about her husband’s well-being. Law enforcement responded by visiting the property, and after receiving no response, they were compelled to forcibly enter the premises. Tragically, they found Longo lifeless in bed.
An autopsy report, obtained by the publication, has now shed light on the cause of the actor’s untimely demise. The report cites “chronic ethanol abuse” as the primary cause of death, with the manner of death deemed natural.
The coroner also revealed that Longo’s body had already commenced the decomposition process when discovered, surrounded by bottles of alcohol.
Following his passing, Clark expressed to the media outlet that her husband had been striving to improve his health for the sake of their children, stating, “He was an amazing father and the best husband. Our whole world is shattered.”
Longo made his debut on the popular NBC daytime soap opera in 2011, becoming the fourth actor to portray the character of Nicholas Alamain, following Eric von Detten, Victor Webber, and Jackson Davis.
Assuming the role in 2011, he appeared in a total of eight episodes as part of a storyline where Nicholas returned to Salem to visit his mother Carly in rehab, expressing remorse for his previous mistreatment of her.
Subsequently, the late actor went on to feature in ‘Bring It On: Fight to The Finish’ and portrayed Quentin in the well-received 2016 television series ‘Nashville.’ He also had notable roles in ‘CSI,’ the 2009 remake of ‘Fame,’ and ‘Piranha 3D.’
Longo’s most significant on-screen presence came in the series ‘Hollywood Heights,’ in which he portrayed Eddie Duran for 78 episodes in 2012. The show concluded after one season.
In addition to his wife, the late actor leaves behind his seven-year-old daughter Lyla Lou Alia, five-year-old son Elijah Christiano, and a one-year-old son whose name has yet to be publicly announced.
