Director Todd Phillips Reveals Filming has Officially Wrapped for Joker: Folie à Deux

The highly-anticipated sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, has officially wrapped filming, according to director Todd Phillips.

While fans will have to wait until October 4 next year to see the follow-up, at least they can take comfort in knowing that all the necessary scenes have been shot.

Phillips celebrated the end of filming by sharing two incredible photos of Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix as Harley Quinn and Arthur Fleck/Joker.

“That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer. From top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together,” he wrote alongside the photos.

Fans were ecstatic to see Gaga’s convincing transformation into Quinn and couldn’t wait to see how her storyline would be woven into Joker’s.

Many have speculated that Folie à Deux will be a musical, given that Gaga was captured walking up and down the iconic Joker steps while singing.

However, the rest of the plot has been kept tightly under wraps.

The film’s name, Folie à Deux, translates to “the shared madness of two,” which has led fans to believe that Quinn and Joker’s complicated romance will form a large part of the sequel.

This theory is supported by the fact that Quinn starts off as a clinical psychologist assigned to treat Fleck inside Arkham Asylum before running off with the supervillain.

Of course, this could be entirely off the mark and the film could take an completely different direction.

Regardless of the plot, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Joker: Folie à Deux.

The sequel has been shooting extensively in New York City, and many lucky fans have been able to catch a glimpse of some of the scenes being filmed.

The post-production team will now work to put all the pieces together in the edit room, making sure that everything is just right before the film’s release next year.

Can’t wait!
