Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been dropped as Black Adam.
The actor released a statement on his social media to explain that he will no longer play the superhero in the superhero franchise.
James Gunn continues on his mission to switch up the DC universe. This news follows Henry Cavill’s announcement that he was fired as Superman.

The Rock unfollowed Warner Bros. and Black Adam on Instagram following the news of his departure. He also turned down the opportunity to feature in Shazam 2.
The actor explained on social media that Gunn told him the character will “not be in their first chapter of storytelling.”
The filmmaker also explained that DC will work with the superhero character and bring it to “future DC multiverse chapters” but the 50-year-old is unlikely to feature in future projects.
