The tweet in question, posted on July 7, mocked Twitter’s rival app, Threads, and its founder, while referencing Musk’s previous tweet about cage-fighting Zuckerberg. It read, “I spent $44 billion for this app and now Lizard boy just decided to hit copy and paste,” referring to Threads as an alternative to Twitter. The tweet then playfully added, “It’s personal now. See you in the cage, Zuck.”
The post quickly gained attention, amassing over 35.5 million views and 645,000 likes since its initial sharing on Friday. Even Twitter’s CEO took notice, as Musk responded to the parody account in the comments section.
Jokingly, the 52-year-old entrepreneur remarked, “So many people think this account is me,” accompanied by a side-eye emoji. As the tweet continued to gain traction, other notable Twitter users joined in on the fun. YouTuber MrBeast questioned whether Musk himself was behind the parody account, to which Musk promptly denied any involvement.
Another user remarked on Musk’s willingness to label Zuckerberg as a lizard, stating, “I love that you didn’t dispute Zuck being a lizard boy.” In response, Musk humorously replied, “Maybe it’s just a case of using too much moisturizer.”
Playing along with the joke, the parody account @ElonMuskAOC also chimed in, stating, “Most likely the case, seems like that type.” Taking it a step further, the account shared an image of Twitter’s blue bird logo devouring the Threads logo, which had been transformed into a worm. The caption continued the ongoing joke, declaring, “There’s a reason why their logo is the way it is… I will smash you, Lizard Boy.”
Despite the parody account only having 385,000 followers, the image garnered an astonishing 1002k likes in less than 24 hours. Hopefully, Mark Zuckerberg possesses a sense of humor about the endless teasing he receives on Twitter.
