Evan Peters was told to watch one particularly chilling video in order to get into the mindset of a serial killer for his latest show ‘Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’ on Netflix.
The series is a dramatization of the story of Jeffrey Dahmer, a serial killer who was convicted of the horrific killing of seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991.
Dahmer also admitted to being a cannibal and eating the flesh of his victims.
He would drug and sexually assault his victims – even sometimes performing twisted experiments on them.
The serial killer was sentenced to 15 consecutive life sentences but was beaten to death by an inmate in 1994.

Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, told Peters to watch one specific interview from 1994 with Dahmer and Stone Phillips in order to get into character:
“I immediately went to YouTube – he told me also to watch the Stone Phillips interview, and so I watched that.”
Peter’s goes on to say:
“I found on YouTube some audio of what sounds like a psychologist interviewing him, or even a detective, where he’s relaying what he went through,”
“And the way that he’s speaking is very candid and very normal.”
“Again, it was so jaw-dropping that it all really happened, that it felt important to be respectful to the victims, to the victims’ families, to try to tell the story as authentically as we could.”
