Former Jacksonville Jaguars player, Uche Nwaneri, has sadly died aged 38.
Medical officials believe that a heart attack was the cause of death.
Nwaneri, who had started a popular YouTube channel after retiring from the sport, was found dead in his wife’s house in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The former athlete had reportedly driven from Georgia to Indiana to see his wife for New Year’s Eve. He sadly collapsed on Friday and his wife found him unresponsive in the bedroom at 1am. She then called 911.
An autopsy was done on Monday which showed no signs of foul play and despite his toxicology results still pending, it has been suggested that the 38-year-old died of a heart attack.
Rest In Peace, Uche Nwaneri. @Chukwu77 played 7 seasons with the @Jaguars, 2007-2013, and forged a strong bond with the Jags fans that's remained to this day.
On behalf of the Jaguars organization and my family, our thoughts are with Uche's family + friends at this terrible time.— Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) January 2, 2023
He started his career off in 2003 when he joined the Boilermakers football team at Purdue University in West Lafayette. He was then selected by the Jaguars in the 2007 NFL draft. He had 92 starts with the team.
He then joined the Dallas Cowboys in 2014 but was cut within a few months.
Nwaneri then started the popular YouTube channel, “The Observant Lineman” and gained over 48,000 subscribers.
