Former Miss Brazil has Died at Age 27 Following a Routine Tonsil Surgery, Report Says


Gleycy Correia, a former Miss Brazil, has sadly died at the age of 27 following a routine tonsil surgery.

In March, the 27-year-old had a tonsillectomy and sadly suffered bleeding and cardiac arrest following the procedure. It is yet unclear if the surgery was the cause of death.

The beauty queen sadly died on Monday months after she received tonsil surgery, as cited by the New York Post. 

Correia was crowned Miss United Continents Brazil in 2018.

According to her priest – as reported by The Sun and The Mirror, the Brazilian reportedly went for her surgery in late March and hemorrhaged five days later.

She went into cardiac arrest on June 4 and fell into a coma, until her untimely death on June 20, according to the priest.

He said:

“God chose this day to collect our princess. We know that she will be greatly missed, but she will now be brightening the sky with her smile,”

An autopsy is being done to confirm if the surgery was the cause of the bleeding, cardiac arrest and death.
