Henry Cavill has been fired from his role as Superman.
The 39-year-old actor recently made a cameo appearance as the superhero at the end of Black Adam.
This followed just days before James Gunn and Peter Safran were brought in as the new heads of DC.
Cavill shared the sad news on his Instagram on Wednesday. He wrote:
‘I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,’
‘After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life,’
‘But then we must remember…. Superman is still around. Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there!’
Fans took to Twitter to complain after Cavill quit his role as Geralt of Rivia on The Witcher to focus on his superhero role:
‘Are you telling me we lost him as Geralt for NOTHING?’
