Top Gun: Maverick made quite a splash at the cinema – earning over $1.1 billion at the global box office and counting.
Paramount Picture’s made the wise decision to hold the movie, which was filmed back in 2019, until summer 2022. This ended being a great decision from the production company, making the film a billion dollar success.
Cruise is expected to make about $55 million for his role in the film.
The actor was paid $12.5 million up front for the film. He then made 10% of the first dollar gross, with escalators that increase his percentage at certain milestones.
If the film makes $1.3 billion – which seems likely – the production company’s revenue would be increased at about $600 million. 10% of that is about $55 million.
Top Gun: Maverick is the biggest movie of Tom Cruise’s long career.
With such success in the second installment, we wouldn’t be surprised if Paramount decided to make it into a trilogy.
