The internet has just one question for Brittney Griner now that she has returned home…

The WNBA star was exchanged for Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout in a prisoner swap last week.

The athlete had been in prison for 10 months after being convicted of cannabis possession.

Bout aka “Merchant of Death” is a former Soviet military officer who was serving a 25-year prison sentence in the US and is charged of conspiring to kill Americans. export anti-aircraft missiles and to provide material support to a terrorist organisation.

Bout claims to be innocent.

The athlete will have to adjust to life on the outside, which will take some time. ESPN reported that the star was back on the basketball court for the first time in almost a year.

Some people are wondering if, after everything she has been through, will she now sing the national anthem during games?

Yahoo reported that the WNBA star did not take the floor during the national anthem in July 2020 for the Phoenix Mercury’s debut in protest.

She has also been in the news after kneeling down in protest of George Floyd’s death, during the anthem.

She said:

“I honestly feel we should not play the National Anthem during our season. I think we should take that much of a stand. I don’t mean that in any disrespect to our country. My dad was in Vietnam and was a law officer for 30 years. I wanted to be a cop before basketball. I do have pride for my country.”

“I’m going to protest regardless; I’m not going to be out there for the National Anthem. If the league continues to want to play it, that’s fine. It will be all season long; I’ll not be out there. I feel like more are probably going to do the same thing. I can only speak for myself.”

“At the Olympics, I understand; you’re playing for your country at that point.”
