Russian State TV is known for being…well, controversial shall we say.
But it looks like they’ve gone a step too far this time, because the International Olympic Committee has launched a full investigation against them.
Channel One host Anatoly Kuzichev launched a bizarre attack on transgender weightlifer Laurel Hubbard, describing her as a ‘psychopath’ and claiming trans needed psychiatric treatment.
He also viciously insulted openly gay Olympian Tom Daley and said LGBT people are an ‘abomination.’
The IOC banned Russia from participated in the Games, and they have released a statement about the shocking broadcast.
‘We have been in contact with our contractual broadcasting partner in Russia in order to get clarity on the situation and to underline the fundamental principles of the Olympic Charter and we are following up accordingly,’
The IOC also said ‘discrimination has absolutely no place at the Olympic Games.’
