Jada Pinkett Smith has responded to allegations suggesting that her estranged husband, Will Smith, engaged in an intimate relationship with male co-star Duane Martin. The claim surfaced in an interview with Smith’s ex-assistant, Brother Bilaal, conducted by controversial internet personality Tasha K.
Bilaal asserted that he witnessed a private encounter between the 55-year-old Academy Award winner and Duane Martin, who co-starred on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” in 1993 and 1995. The interview quickly gained traction on X, formerly known as Twitter, with Bilaal stating, “I opened the door to Duane’s dressing room and that’s when I see Duane having sex with Will.” A representative for Will Smith vehemently denied the allegations to TMZ, asserting that the story was entirely fabricated and the claim unequivocally false.
There were indications that legal action might be pursued against Bilaal for making such remarks. In response to the rumors, Jada Pinkett Smith reportedly told TMZ, “We’re suing,” indicating a readiness to take legal action in defense of her estranged husband. The attention surrounding Will Smith’s personal life has intensified recently.
The actor, who married Jada Pinkett Smith in 1997, shares two children with her—Jaden, 25, and Willow, 22. Additionally, Smith has a son, Trey, 30, from his previous marriage. Jada Pinkett Smith dropped a bombshell last month in her memoir titled “Worthy,” revealing that she and Will had been secretly separated for seven years.
She disclosed that they had been on separate paths since 2016. Notably, this separation was in effect during the infamous 2022 Oscars incident where Will Smith confronted comedian Chris Rock over a joke about Pinkett Smith’s shaved head.
In an October interview with Today Show’s Hoda Kotb, Pinkett Smith delved further into her relationship with Smith, expressing, “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying.” She acknowledged the challenges but emphasized her commitment to their marriage, stating, “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
During the same interview, Kotb confronted Pinkett Smith about the persistent rumors surrounding the Hollywood couple, ranging from an open marriage to allegations of both partners being gay. Pinkett Smith dismissed these speculations, stating, “None of that’s true. I definitely can understand why there’d be misunderstandings, but none of it’s true.” Despite the swirling rumors and challenges in their marriage, Pinkett Smith remains steadfast in her commitment to her vows.
