In a recent publication titled “Movie Star: They Always Say They’re Single,” Jessica Simpson opened up about her secret romance with a well-known movie star.
The singer recalls how her teenage fantasy came to life when she was caught the attention of this mystery actor at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards.
He “eyed [her] up and down” and Simpson describes it as “he was undressing me with his eyes.”
Despite getting the actor’s phone number, Simpson eventually reconciled with her then-boyfriend, Nick Lachey, and did not call the movie star.
However, their paths crossed again and they ended up hanging out in nightclubs, at a mutual friend’s house, and even on a movie set. But as time went on, Simpson began to feel demeaned and like a “call girl” who was only there for sex.
“He told me his relationship with his girlfriend was completely over,” Simpson writes. “I didn’t care if he was my teenage fantasy come to life, this was not a choice that same girl, my younger self, would be proud of.”
The singer ended the fling and went on to marry NFL player Eric Johnson, with whom she shares three children.
Simpson’s latest publication delves into this secret relationship, which was not mentioned in her memoir “Open Book.”
The memoir, which was released in 2020 and is being adapted into a scripted series, covers her other high-profile romances with the likes of singer John Mayer, stuntman Johnny Knoxville, and athlete Tony Romo.
Simpson’s “Movie Star: They Always Say They’re Single” provides an intimate look at her secret romance with a well-known movie star, who she describes as “sexy” but also “demeaning.”
The publication sheds light on the dark side of fame and the impact it can have on personal relationships. As Simpson writes, “I didn’t care if he was my teenage fantasy come to life, this was not a choice that same girl, my younger self, would be proud of.”
