Johnny Depp appeared to laugh as Amber Heard’s own lawyer objects to his own question in court.
Depp launched a defamation lawsuit against Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post. The trial began Monday 11 April in Fairfax, Virginia.
The actor’s house manager, Ben King, took the stand for his testimony and he recounted the time when Depp’s finger had been injured, which resulted in Ben Rottenborn, Heard’s lawyer, stopping his statement, announcing ‘hearsay objection’.
Watch below:
This objection made Depp and Depp’s legal team giggle quietly in response.
The judge responded to Rottenborn by saying:
“wait, you asked the question.”

This isn’t the only time hearsay evidence has caused bewilderment in the courtroom, however. The 58-year-old actor was talking about a chef making Heard’s favorite Mexican meal and said himself “That’s hearsay, i guess.”

Amusing moment from trial.
Anticipating an objection to his testimony, Depp said: "That's hearsay, I guess."
Judge: "I'm not sure it's even being offered for the truth of the matter [asserted]."
Heard's lawyer: "He got it."
Depp: "I'm learning." pic.twitter.com/gIO4n6sqX0
