Johnny Depp ‘Career Will Thrive’ After Court Victory Against Amber Heard

Johnny Depp’s ‘career will thrive’ after his court victory with Amber Heard, according to Today host Karl Stefanovic.

It was announced by the jury on Wednesday that Depp had won the case against Heard which started over her 2018 Washington Post op-ed where she claimed to be a victim of domestic abuse.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor won $15 million in total, $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. However, Judge Penney Azcarate reduced the punitive damages to meet the state’s statutory cap of $350,000.

The Today host said that Depp’s career will most likely thrive following the defamation trial verdict, but he doubts that the actor will ever work with the likes of Disney again after some of the revelations made in court about his personal life, including his heavy drinking and drug use.
Discussing the outcome with entertainment correspondent Sam Rubin, Stefanovic said:
‘Effectively, the jury came back with a verdict that she defamed him, that she did lie. That is, at the end of the day, something that she can’t deny… [It] is very difficult for her to get over that.’

Rubin and Stefanovic claimed that Depp came across with ‘charm’ when discussing some of the darker times in his life making him seem more lovable, compared to Heard’s ‘shrill’ and ‘disingenuous’ manner.
