Johnny Depp has been forced to take out a huge home loan as he struggles to revive his acting career.
DailyMail obtained revealing photographs of Johnny Depp’s dilapidated West Hollywood mansion, which he acquired back in 1995 for $2.15 million.
The property, reminiscent of a castle with turrets and towers, is showing signs of neglect, with overgrown trees and ripped canvas on the towers. Despite this, Depp took out a $10 million mortgage on the property in March 2022, as he faced financial strain from his costly legal battles with Amber Heard and extravagant spending.
Depp, now 60 years old, has mostly abandoned the eight-bedroom mansion and spends the majority of his time at his private island home in the Bahamas.

Currently on tour in Europe with his band, Hollywood Vampires, Depp recently made a surprise visit to the childhood home of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas after a performance in Swansea.
Although the main property appears reasonably well-maintained, the grounds surrounding it have become overgrown compared to previous years when the trees and shrubs were trimmed to allow the swimming pool to bask in sunlight. Additionally, exclusive photos reveal a run-down miniature castle with torn canvas-topped towers on the right side of the unique 1930s estate. This structure bears a striking resemblance to the castle inhabited by Depp’s character Edward Scissorhands in the 1990 film.
Depp’s reputation in Hollywood suffered a blow following the assault allegations made by his ex-wife, Amber Heard. The resulting defamation trial exposed damaging revelations about his personal life, although he ultimately emerged victorious. The fallout from the trial led to his removal from the lucrative Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. However, last year, Depp won a $10 million damages award in the case against Heard, giving a boost to his career.
Although Depp received a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in the film Jeanne du Barry, his earning power has significantly declined. It is reported that he earned only $3 million for his performance in the movie, a stark contrast to the reputed $60 million he earned from the Pirates of the Caribbean series. Despite being offered the chance to reprise his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow, Depp opted to tour with his close friend, the late English guitarist Jeff Beck.
Sources close to Depp reveal that he now spends most of his free time on his Bahamian island, Little Halls Pond Cay, which he purchased for $3.6 million in 2004. Earlier this year, there were reports of him buying a home in Somerset, England. However, it has been confirmed that these reports were erroneous, and Depp never acquired a property in the village of Kingston St. Mary, as previously claimed. The photo and description circulating for the past decade actually pertain to Hadspen House, which was transformed into The Newt Hotel & Spa by South African billionaire Koos Becker and his wife Karen Roos.
Despite the financial challenges and property misconceptions, Johnny Depp remains an enigmatic figure in Hollywood, navigating both personal and professional obstacles as he strives to rebuild his acting career.
