The courtroom was shown a photograph of Johnny Depp taken by Amber Heard, of the actor asleep on the couch with spilt ice cream across his lap.
Depp launched a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post. The trial began Monday 11 April i Fairfax, Virginia.
The 58-year-old took to the stand to attempt to clear his name against Heard’s accusations that he was domestic abuser.
While on the stand, the courtroom was shown a photograph of Depp taken by Heard, in which he noted:
“ms heard asked me to hold the ice cream as she noticed that i was on the nod – that means falling asleep – from the 17-hour day that i had worked and also the opiates that i had ingested.”
“and if you’ll notice, my right hand is in my pocket, so i wasn’t participating in the festival of ice cream.”
“i was holding her ice cream because she knew what was going to happen – that i would fall asleep and it would drop and that was a wonderful picture for her.”
