Johnny Depp responded to accusations from Heard’s lawyer by saying “How do you think she got Aquaman, Sir?”
Depp launched a defamation lawsuit against Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post. The trial began Monday 11 April in Fairfax, Virginia.
On 25 April, Heard’s lawyer asked the actor about a text he had previously sent to Heard in response to a message she had sent him.
Heard had text Depp:
“I’m at a coffee meeting now, will be home soon.”
Depp had responded:
“No goddamn meetings. No movies. Why? Why do you deviate from our agreement? What species of meeting? F*** it. Just tell me when you get home.”
Heard’s lawyer implied that the actor did not want Heard to take the meeting. The lawyer said:
“You didn’t want her to take the meeting that she was taking that day, correct?,”
However, Depp replied:
“It seems as though we had an agreement to do something together. I’m actually asking what species of meeting.
“So this is not necessarily an angry text, it’s just why do you deviate from our agreement?,”
“It’s not about her doing films. How do you think she got Aquaman, sir?”
