Johnny Depp has let the court in on the beginning of his and Amber Heard’s relationship, admitting that he thought she was ‘too good to be true’ in the early days.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor launched a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post.
In response to this, Heard filed a counterclaim for defamation, with a judge ruling that she could use a defence where her lawyers will argue she is deserving of immunity.
Depp took to the stand to attempt to clear his name against Heard’s accusations that he was a domestic abuser.
The actor was asked what the couple’s relationship was like at the start, to which he responded:
“It was as if she was too good to be true.”
Depp went on to claim that they had a lot in common with one another and he described Heard as:
‘attentive’, ‘loving’, ‘smart’, ‘kind’, ‘funny’, ‘understanding’

“Within a year, year and a half, she had become another person, almost.”
Heard appeared unattached and unmoved by Depp’s words.
