Johnny Depp’s best friend and former neighbor Isaac Bucha has testified that Amber Heard had no bruises on her body after the alleged violent incident.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor launched a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post.
In response to this, Heard filed a counterclaim for defamation, with a judge ruling that she could use a defence where her lawyers will argue she is deserving of immunity.
Bucha, who lived in the penthouse next door at the time, admitted he did not know “for a fact” if the actress was wearing makeup or not after the alleged ‘violent’ incident.
Isaac claimed on May 21 2016, he saw glass and spilled wine in front of the door to the couple’s penthouse. Josh Drew, one of Heard’s friends, told Bucha that they “had a rough day” when he asked about the mess outside.
Depp’s childhood friend claimed that he ran into Heard in the hallway and she told him “Johnny came by last night, he got violent, so I’m changing the locks.”
Bucha admitted in court that he saw no bruises, cuts, redness or swelling on the actresses face despite her claim that Depp threw a phone at her. He also said:
“didn’t look like she was wearing makeup then either”
He added that he was surprized to see the photos of her with bruises that surfaced later on.
