Johnny Depp’s reaction to Jack Sparrow being mentioned at his trial with Amber Heard proves he is the world’s favorite pirate.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor launched a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post.
In response to this, Heard filed a counterclaim for defamation, with a judge ruling that she could use a defence where her lawyers will argue she is deserving of immunity.
Depp’s sister Christi Dembrowski mentioned that her brother played the legendary Jack Sparrow, prompting a smile in response from Depp.
Watch below:
Depp smiled in response to his sister telling the court he played Captain Jack Sparrow. One of the lawyers asked Dembrowski:
“When was the first ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie released?”…”what was your brother’s role in the movie?”
To which she responded:
“He was Captain Jack Sparrow.”
A moment of pride for his work as Captain Jack Sparrow, perhaps?
His smile went viral and people took to Twitter:
This warms my heart and makes me sad at the same time. Disney must redeem themselves and have Johnny return to POFTC.

Others tweeted that in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, there is a running joke that the characters never remember to call him “Captain” and that Depp would have found it funny that his sister called him ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’.
