Joker 2 Confirmed with Joaquin Phoenix Returning as Full Title is Revealed

Joker 2 has been confirmed with Joaquin Phoenix returning to his lead role.

Todd Phillips, the director, took to Instagram to confirm the sequel by posting a picture of the script and a working title for the movie, Joker: Folie à Deux as well as a picture of Phoenix reading the script.

Folie à Deux is a French phrase meaning ‘the shared madness of two’.

Does this suggest that the Joker, aka Arthur Fleck, finds himself a companion in the sequel?

Phillips didn’t reveal much about the new addition, not writing a caption on his post but considering the title reveal, the audience may be introduced to another very well known DC character…Harley Quinn perhaps.

It is unlikely that Margot Robbie will appear in the sequel, however, as she was already linked to Jared Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad.

Robbie has also previously stated she needs a break from the world of Gotham, telling EW:

“It was kind of back-to-back filming Birds… and filming [Suicide Squad], so I was kind of like, oof, I need a break from Harley because she’s exhausting,”

“I don’t know when we’re next going to see her. I’m just as intrigued as everyone else is.”

The 2019 Joker became the highest ever grossing film to be rated R, making more than $1 billion worldwide.
