KFC accidentally leaked its top-secret recipe for the famous fried chicken.
The nephew of THE Colonel Harland, Joe Ledington, accidentally let slip his uncle’s biggest secret…
Everybody knows that the Colonel had a secret recipe for his fried chicken. Some would argue the entire thing was an elaborate marketing ploy, however, if there was a secret recipe, the cat is out the bag after Ledington met with the Chicago Tribune.
The 67-year-old was sharing old family scrapbooks and sharing anecdotes of his famous uncle.
When Joe got to the final page of his aunts’ last will and testament, the writer – Jay Jones – noticed something interesting.
Handwritten on the back of the will was a list…when Jones asked what it was, Ledington said:
“That is the original 11 herbs and spices that were supposed to be so secretive,”
This recipe read:
11 spices — Mix with 2 cups white fl 1) 2/3 Ts salt 2) 1/2 Ts thyme 3) 1/2 Ts basil 4) 1/3 Ts oregano 5) 1 Ts celery salt 6) 1 Ts black pepper 7) 1 Ts dried mustard 8) 4 Ts paprika 9) 2 Ts garlic salt 10) 1 Ts ground ginger 11) 3 Ts white pepper

KFC’s parent company Yum! Brands neither confirmed nor denied if this recipe was correct, stating:
“Lots of people through the years have claimed to discover or figure out the secret recipe, but no one’s ever been right.”
Hmm…
