Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne have undergone such dramatic transformations that they are hardly recognizable in the initial teaser for the upcoming season of American Horror Story: Delicate.

After over fifteen years of gracing reality television, it’s easy to overlook the fact that Kim Kardashian once ventured into acting. Her early experiences included a role in the parody “Disaster Movie” (2008) by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. She then dipped her toes in minor roles in projects like the surfing drama “Beyond the Break,” “CSI: NY,” the legal comedy “Drop Dead Diva,” and Tyler Perry’s “Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.” Yet, her subsequent roles mainly revolved around portrayals of herself on both the big and small screens, including appearances in “2 Broke Girls” and “Ocean’s Eight.” However, a significant shift is now on the horizon.

Kim Kardashian set the internet abuzz on April 10 when she posted an enigmatic teaser on Instagram. This teaser unveiled her collaboration with Emma Roberts for the twelfth installment of American Horror Story, slated to premiere this summer. Emma Roberts is making a triumphant return to the Ryan Murphy-helmed anthology series after gracing five previous seasons. Titled “Delicate,” the upcoming season will be helmed by showrunner Halley Feiffer, known for her work on American Crime Story: Impeachment. Feiffer’s scripts will be partially inspired by Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel, “Delicate Condition,” which is set to hit shelves in August.

The novel’s synopsis provides a glimpse into the riveting storyline: “Anna Alcott is desperate to have a family. But, as she tries to balance her increasingly public life as an indie actress with a grueling IVF regime, she starts to suspect that someone is going to great lengths to make sure that never happens.” As Anna’s life takes a series of unsettling turns, the mystery deepens, leading to a gripping narrative that promises chills and suspense.

The roles of Roberts and Kardashian remain shrouded in mystery, although FX, the network behind the show, has confirmed that Kardashian’s role was tailor-made for her. A friendship between Kardashian and Ryan Murphy, coupled with Murphy’s admiration for Kardashian’s stint as a Saturday Night Live host, likely paved the way for this unique role. Murphy, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, described Kardashian’s character as “fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying,” emphasizing the innovative nature of this season.

Further exciting casting revelations emerged in April, as Deadline announced the additions of Cara Delevingne and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez to the ensemble. However, details about their characters are scarce.

The first teaser, released on July 20, features Roberts, Delevingne, and Kardashian. Set against a hair-raising rendition of “Rock-a-bye Baby,” the teaser unveils a group of white-haired dancers brandishing ominous black claws. The tension escalates as the teaser shifts to haunting visuals of the trio, donning bold red lipstick and strikingly exaggerated lashes.

The teaser hints at the impending arrival of the anthology series, leaving audiences eagerly awaiting its debut. For Kim Kardashian, this venture into the eerie world of American Horror Story could herald a transformative chapter in her multifaceted career. Murphy’s history of propelling cultural icons into Hollywood’s spotlight raises the possibility that “Delicate” could be a launching pad for Kardashian’s artistic evolution, akin to Lady Gaga’s trajectory after her American Horror Story debut. As anticipation for “Delicate” builds, the future holds limitless potential for Kim Kardashian’s artistic journey.
