Kim Kardashian has received backlash after claiming her beauty standards are ‘attainable’.
People online have been accusing the reality star of forgetting about her “wealth privilege”.
All of the Kardashian/Jenner clan are well known for posting perfectly posed and carefully prepared photographs of themselves – which, in the past, have been exposed for being photoshopped.
The idea of photoshop, photo editing software, perfect lighting and professional photographers as well as insane wealth, giving them access to home gyms, personal trainers and dieticians, chefs, cosmetic procedures, hair and makeup teams, beauty treatments (the list goes on…) not creating an unrealistic expectation of beauty has caused some controversy over Kim claiming that she and her family do not contribute to the unattainable beauty standards in today’s society.
Some would argue the Kardashians/Jenners are at the forefront of what we deem to be today’s standards of beauty.
When the 41-year-old was asked if she feels “responsible, even guilty, for setting an unrealistic, unattainable beauty standard.” She replied:
“If I’m doing it, it’s attainable,”
“There are so many different beauty standards — whether it’s Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe. When I was a teenager, [the look] was just blonde waifs,”
“My mentality was never like, you see them on TV or in magazines and pick who you want to be. It was always: Be yourself, find beauty in everything.”
People online were (understandably) annoyed, with some saying:
“Attainable my ar*e. Only for those in her air bubble. And rich celebrity types similarly wrapped up in their own worlds,”
“Laser treatments when her kids are in bed? Lol I barely have time for a shower a day as a mother & carer.”
“Yeah no it’s not @KimKardashian you have wealth privilege. Many people, including myself, don’t. Tone deaf and out of touch.”
“She keeps proving more and more how out of touch she is with every day women who really CAN’T attain the unrealistic beauty standards she flaunts,”
Kim also spoke about never having any plastic surgery in this interview…
