Lance Bass has drawn attention to the problematic trend of making light of Amber Heard’s domestic violence allegations against Johnny Depp.
Depp launched a defamation lawsuit against Heard in 2019, after the Aquaman star described herself as a victim of domestic abuse in a 2018 article she penned in The Washington Post. The trial started Monday 11 April in Fairfax, Virginia.
During her testimony, Heard has accused the Pirates of the Caribbean actor of some truly horrific things, including physical and sexual abuse.
Many TikTok users have been making light of these allegations by taking audio clips of Heard’s testimony and using them in comedic videos, some of which have since gone viral.
Former NSYNC star, Lance Bass, is one of the many users of the app that has come under scrutiny as he was accused of mocking an alleged domestic violence and sexual assault incident.

Many did not agree that his skit was funny, however:
This trial is about domestic violence, emotional abuse, and sexual assault. And this is what Lance Bass is choosing to do. These folks really are determined to dissuade victims from ever coming forward again. https://t.co/tTlKckOtud

The Rep Project tweeted:
“Mocking or making light of domestic abuse and sexual assault is never okay – and it’s not just Lance Bass, but a troubling trend taking over social media.”
