Stephanie Reddick, the wife of late actor Lance Reddick, has released a statement following her husband’s sudden passing on Friday, March 17.
The John Wick actor died of natural causes at the age of 60.
In the statement posted on her husband’s social media accounts, Stephanie expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and support she has received from fans and colleagues since his death.
She said, “Lance was taken from us far too soon. Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I see your messages and can’t begin to express how grateful I am to have them.”
Lance Reddick was a well-known actor, best known for his portrayal of Baltimore police officer Cedric Daniels in the critically acclaimed TV series The Wire.
He also appeared in other popular TV shows such as Oz, Frank, and Bosch. He played Charon, the Continental Hotel concierge in all four John Wick films, and was a video game actor known for his role as Commander Zavala in the Destiny franchise.
Stephanie Reddick went on to express her appreciation to the thousands of Destiny players who played in special tribute to Lance, thanking them for their support. She also requested donations be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, Lance’s hometown.
Tributes to Lance Reddick have poured in from his fans and colleagues in the TV and film industry. Keanu Reeves, his co-star in the John Wick franchise, offered his thoughts on the passing of his friend in a joint statement with director Chad Stahelski.
They described Lance as the consummate professional and a joy to work with, and dedicated the latest film in the franchise to his memory.
Wendell Pierce, who starred alongside Lance in The Wire, also paid tribute to the late actor, describing him as a man of great strength and grace, talented musician, and the epitome of class. He said, “Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here.”
The official Twitter account for John Wick also shared their condolences, describing Lance as a kind-hearted soul, a wonderful human, and a true friend, saying “Be seeing you, Lance Reddick.”
