LeBron James has questioned why Brittney Griner would ‘want to go back to America’ at all after the US government’s slow response to her being detained in Russia.
In an episode preview of The Shop, the athlete said “How could she feel like America has her back?”.
After mentioning that Griner had been detained for more than 110 days by this point, James said:
“I would be feeling like, ‘Do I even want to go back to America?'”

The Phoenix Mercury player was arrested by Russian authorities at a Moscow airport in February. The police claim they found vape cartridges in her luggage containing hashish oil.
Griner pleaded guilty to large-scale transportation of drugs last week and could face up to 10 years in a Russian prison.
Her coach had previously spoken out about that fact that she believes things would have been resolved ‘if it was LeBron’.
