Leonardo DiCaprio has reportedly made the largest donation from one individual to help aid Ukraines’ armed forces.

The 47-year-old actor has close ties to Ukraine. His grandmother, Elena Smirnova (1915-2008) used to live in Odessa:

The Oscar-award winning actor donated $10 million to Ukraines’ armed forces, currently the largest donation made by one individual.

Ukrainian news outlet Hromadske confirmed the news of the generous donation.

Mila Kunis and her husband Asthon Kutcher have also shared a video announcing that they have raised over $18 million in donations for the people of Ukraine.

The Ukraine-born actress posted last week on her instagram that she was raising money with her famous husband for refugees fleeing the war-torn country.

The couple posted a GoFundme explaining that all donations were going to provide “immediate support” for those impacted, and that she and Ashton would match up to $3 million.

The celebrity couple have since posted an update:

In the video, the 38-year-old explains:

“We just wanted to give you a quick update as to where we stand with the fundraising. We’re halfway through… We’re super-excited, and we want to say thank you to each and every single one of you. It’s been an incredible past 48 hours.”

The CEO of Airbnb, Brian Chesky, and the creator of Flexport, Ryan Petersen are then introduced on the video call to further elaborate:

“we’ve partnered with the united nations, unicef, project hope….make sure that every single item is delivered directly to people in need.”

“we have made a commitment to work with our host at airbnb.org to provide housing for up to 100,000 refuges.”

The 44-year old actor announced that over 30,000 people have donated to the cause, taking donations to over halfway towards their goal, adding:

“There are some problems in the world that take a village to solve, and there are other problems that take the rest of the world. This is one of those other problems.”
