Machine Gun Kelly has been branded ‘abusive’ and ‘toxic’ after he revealed the engagement ring was designed to hurt Megan Fox if she tries to take it off.

Fox and MGK (who wants people to stop calling him Machine Gun Kelly), recently announced they’re going to get married.

Oh, and naturally, they drank each other’s blood after the proposal.

Fox confirmed the news on Instagram.

“In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree

“We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time.

“Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma.

“Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him.

“And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes…and then we drank each other’s blood.”

Machine Gun Kelly also took to Instagram to share the news, and he gave fans a look at the ring.

He wrote:

“yes, in this life and every life” 💍 beneath the same branches we fell in love under, i brought her back to ask her to marry me. i know tradition is one ring, but i designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love.

In an interview with Vogue, Kelly said he designed the ring to hurt if Fox tried to remove it, because he believes ‘love is pain’. Ugh.

“The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings.

“When it’s together, it’s held in place by a magnet. And then it forms an obscure heart. And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns.

“So, if she tries to take it off, it hurts.”

Since Machine Gun Kelly’s admission, people have branded in him toxic.

As one columnist wrote for Yahoo! Voices,

‘Kelly giving Fox a ring that could cause her physical pain keeps her bound to him – it is beyond her control. It feels to me like a not-so-subtle display of toxic masculinity – and it simply doesn’t sit right.’

The columnist definitely has a point, it’s just plain weird.
