Several cast members of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One have shared their heart-stopping experiences while witnessing Tom Cruise perform one of the most dangerous stunts in the film.

Known for his dedication to doing his own stunts, Cruise decided to undertake the risky task of driving a motorbike off a cliff and then parachuting away.

Given his status as a celebrity, this naturally raised concerns among the cast and crew.

Pom Klementieff and Vanessa Kirby, who play assassin Paris and Alana Mitsopolis, respectively, spoke to NME about their feelings during Cruise’s daring feat. Klementieff expressed her awe, saying, “It was mind-blowing.” Kirby, on the other hand, revealed that while everyone else was nervous and fearful, Cruise remained calm. She noted, “I just thought it should have been the other way round.” The intensity of the moment was palpable as Klementieff added, “We stopped breathing when he was jumping. And then someone would yell, ‘Canopy!’ you know, when the parachute opens, and we would all cheer and applaud. And then he would do it again.”

The pressure to get the stunt right is a challenge, as repeating the feat multiple times becomes necessary. However, Cruise, who is known for his unwavering commitment to his craft, seemed undeterred. Despite the risks involved, the 61-year-old actor has been extensively training for the film and has performed countless skydives and motocross bike jumps to prepare for the role.

Released on June 19, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is the seventh installment in the successful Mission: Impossible franchise. Like many other productions, the film faced delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, it has managed to gross approximately $226 million at the box office and has received predominantly positive reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 96 percent positive critical score, with an average rating of eight out of 10.

Cruise’s unwavering commitment to his craft and his ability to execute daring stunts with precision have paid off. Despite the initial concerns of his co-stars and colleagues, the success of the film speaks to his dedication and professionalism. As the Mission: Impossible franchise continues to captivate audiences, it’s evident that Cruise’s fearless approach to his craft plays a significant role in its enduring popularity.
