Morena Baccarin has shared her less-than-enjoyable experience of filming intimate scenes with Ryan Reynolds in the first installment of the Marvel film franchise, Deadpool.

Despite the on-screen chemistry that audiences may have perceived, Baccarin revealed that shooting the saucier explicit scenes, including a two-day sex scene montage, was not a pleasant experience for her.

In an interview with TV host Conan O’Brien in 2017, Baccarin described the sex scene shoot as “wonderful, the whole experience,” but minus the two days of filming the explicit scenes. She further explained that the sex scene took two days to shoot, as it involved portraying the on-screen couple making love throughout an entire calendar year, celebrating various holidays like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and International Women’s Day, dressed differently for each occasion.

Baccarin admitted that there was a lot left on the cutting room floor, and she felt good about it, stating, “And I feel good about that – the part that was left out. I literally mean that was enough sex. Like nobody needs to see more than what was in the movie!”

It wasn’t just the explicit scenes that posed challenges for Baccarin during filming.

In an interview with People magazine in 2018, Baccarin revealed that even kissing Reynolds, who portrayed the titular character Deadpool, wasn’t ideal due to his costume.

She humorously compared it to “kissing a giant latex condom” and mentioned that it smelled like rubber the entire time. Despite this discomfort, Baccarin acknowledged Reynolds’ professionalism and how they made the best of the situation.

Baccarin further elaborated on the challenges of filming intimate scenes in an interview with Collider in 2015. She acknowledged that it was uncomfortable, but they made the best of it through laughter and getting used to each other.

The actress described how by the end of the day, they were positioning themselves for the scenes without hesitation, saying, “Okay, where do you want me, how do you-?” and getting into character, including spreading their legs, as required by the scene.

Despite her less-than-favorable experience with the explicit scenes, Baccarin has spoken positively about her overall experience working with Reynolds and the Deadpool film franchise. She praised Reynolds’ professionalism and how they made the best of the challenging scenes through laughter and camaraderie on set. Baccarin’s candid remarks about her discomfort during the intimate scenes shed light on the behind-the-scenes realities of filming such scenes and the professionalism and camaraderie required to make them work.

That’s showbiz!
