Netflix’s spine-tingling new horror series, “Dear Child,” is sending shivers down the spines of viewers with every episode, leaving them terrified and captivated by its chilling storyline.

“Dear Child” is a six-part mini-series adapted from the German novel of the same name by Romy Hausmann. The series is presented in its original German language, allowing viewers the option to either watch with English subtitles or opt for English voices dubbed over. Drawing from recent successes like “Squid Game,” many have come to appreciate the authenticity of the original language with subtitles.

The plot revolves around a woman who endures a traumatic ordeal while being held captive by an unknown assailant. In her desperate attempt to escape, she finds herself in a harrowing accident when struck by a car. Awakening in a hospital, she grapples with a fractured memory, unable to recall her past or identity. What she does remember is the horrifying truth of her ordeal, which includes a brutal assault.

During her hospitalization, she encounters a young girl named Hannah, who is also injured and appears to be connected to her in a significant way, suggesting a mother-daughter relationship. The narrative takes a dark and mysterious turn from this point onward. Netflix’s official synopsis for the series reads, “A mysterious woman’s escape from her harrowing captivity points investigators toward the dark truth behind an unsolved disappearance 13 years earlier.”

Kim Reidle assumes the lead role in the series, portraying the traumatized protagonist, while Naila Schuberth embodies the character of Hannah.

Since its release on September 7th, “Dear Child” has garnered widespread attention for its spine-chilling and unsettling narrative. Viewers have not hesitated to express their terror and appreciation for the series, highlighting their fascination with its gripping plot.
