New Zealand have made history after announcing a smoking ban that will stop young people from ever being able to buy cigarettes.

People aged 14 and under in 2027 won’t be able to legally smoke in the groundbreaking new law announced by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Each year the age limit will increase until it is illegal for the entire nation.

Associate health minister Ayesha Verrall said on Thursday.

‘We want to make sure young people never start smoking so we will make it an offence to sell or supply smoked tobacco products to new cohorts of youth,’

It remains to be seen whether more countries will adapt the new law.
