Orange is the New Black actor Brad William Henke has sadly died aged 56.
His manager Matt DelPiano confirmed the sad news to The New York Post that the actor and former pro football player had died in his sleep on Tuesday, but shared no details about the cause of his death.
DelPiano said in a statement:
“Brad was an incredibly kind man of joyous energy. A very talented actor, he loved being a part of this community … and we loved him back. Our thoughts are with his wife and family.”
Brad was most well known for his role as officer Desi Piscatella in Orange is the New Black. This role earned him a Screen Actors Guild Award for an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series back in 2016.
Brad also played college football at the University of Arizona and was drafted into the New York Giants in 1989. In later years, he played for the Denver Broncos.
He retried from the sport in 1994 due to an injury and moved to LA, originally to pursue coaching but ended up acting instead.
He will be sadly missed, RIP.
